Precautions when using Essential Oils
Essential oils are potent and therefore there are potential risks, so care needs to be taken when using them. Do not take essential oils internally! Although there are providers who advocate you can, please don't.
See * for oils that can be used with children from aged 6 years. Do not use if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Older adults should use a weaker blend.
Use caution when using essential oils if there are pets in the home, some are dangerous for animals.
Please speak to your doctor if you have any health concerns before using your oils, particularly if you have high blood pressure, low immunity or epilepsy.
Lavendar and tea-Tree essential oils can be used neat on the skin, all other essential oils must be blended with a carier oil. Please avoid alcohol when using Clary Sage essential oil.
Carrier Oils
If there is a history of nut allergies, avoid nut oils.
Popular carrier oils are Grapeseed, Sweet Almond, Olive, Jojoba and Coconut.
Skin Sensitivity
Essential oils may aggravate sensitive skin. Do not apply to inflamed, broken or irritated skin. Avoid contact with the mouth, eyes and ears.
Always do a patch skin test before using oils. Place a small amount of ndiluted oil on the inside of your elbow and leave for 24 hours to see if irritation occurs. If it does, wash off with soap & water.
Citus oils are photosensitizers - do not apply before sun exposure.
Safety when using in the bath
Please remember oil and water don't mix! Essential oils are not water soluble so it's essential to always blend with a carrier oil or milk & circulate the water.
